About the Artist: Deb Stoner

Deb Stoner is an artist, eyewear designer, jewelry artisan, and photographer. But it was gardening—growing plants for use in a metal arts project—that inspired her most recent fascination. Using a flatbed scanner as her camera, Deb captures every tiny detail in her floral still lifes, from the vibrant hues of a flower’s petals to the fine hairs of its stem. The plants and bugs she features come from her Oregon garden or her friends’ and neighbors’ backyards—distinguishing these compositions as reflections of her home and her community. Deb’s yearlong exhibition at Portland International Airport, which featured 12 larger-than-life photographs from her seriesA Year in the Willamette Valley, was seen by millions and is now in the Port of Portland’s Permanent Collection.
